    Schwatka Lake
    Schwatka Lake was created in the 1950s with the construction of the Whitehorse Dam. It is a popular resting area for migrating birds and other animals including coyotes and mule deer. A day-use area is found on the eastern shore and the Yukon River Loop Trail circles around the lake.

    Lake Laberge
    Located north of Whitehorse, Lake Laberge is a widening of the Yukon River. The lake offers canoeing, boating, fishing, and sailing opportunities as well as camping along its shores. Poet Robert Service, makes reference to this lake in his famous poem, the Cremation of Sam McGee.

    Yukon River
    Measuring 3018 km (1875 mi) long, the Yukon River is a major body of water running through Alaska and the Yukon Territory. The river was used to transport goods and passengers during the Klondike Gold Rush. Paddle-wheel boats were the main type of transportation on the river during the 1950s.
